Liberty First Novels – The Recognition Saga

The Liberty First novels are set in a post-apocalyptic Earth after a global war between nearly forgotten adversaries. The worst possibilities faced by western civilization have come to pass. In the midst of chaos, who will govern, by what rules of law, and to what ends?

The Recognition Saga

The first quartet of Liberty First Novels, Recognition tells the story of Ezra Randall, scientist, philosopher, and rebel, the one man who dares to defy the Guardian, dictator of the world, ruler of the Guardianship, and enforcer of Recognition, Ezra’s own invention.

Their personal and global struggle sweeps family, friends, foes, and innocent bystanders into an all-out, no-holds-barred battle for freedom, control, and the soul of mankind.

The Recognition Saga Omnibus Edition

The omnibus edition contains the complete set of all four Recognition novels for one low price!

Recognition #1 – Departure – read Chapters 1-3 for free!

Two hundred years after western civilization’s collapse, Earth is ruled by the authoritarian Guardian, who controls the populace through “Recognition”—a corrupted system of de facto immortality. Dr. Ezra Randall, an original architect of the system, emerges from hiding to save his grandson, Myles, from being Recognized. Together, they flee to the only safe haven left: off-world.

Recognition #2 – Orientation

On the surface of Mars, the nascent democracy of Liberty First is preparing for its first free elections, but old rivalries threaten to tear the colony apart. As Myles struggles to find his place in a new society where not everyone plays fair, the Earth-bound Guardianship faces its own crisis. Powerful external agents begin targeting the dictatorship’s highest members, testing whether the regime’s combination of military might and the lure of longevity can withstand a new kind of rebellion.

Recognition #3 – Accommodation

Exiled and impeached, Ezra grapples with his past while Myles begins to realize his true potential—and the sacrifices it will demand. On Earth, the Guardian’s absolute power fractures when Sandra Anichi, one of the Seven Lords, defects, leaving chaos in her wake. Liberty First launches a dual offensive: a rescue mission to reunite their lost members, and a dirty war aimed at destroying the very foundation of the Guardianship’s control.

Recognition #4 – Denouement

In the stunning conclusion, the stakes have never been higher. Following a devastating bomb attack on his girlfriend, Mary, Myles is forced to carry the burden of Liberty First’s only chance to escape the Guardianship. As an underground railroad smuggles high-value defectors to Mars, an ultimate, devastating strike from Earth looms. Myles and Mary must make impossible choices between love, family, and duty to save Liberty First—and the entire population of Earth.
