Unanswered Questions About Fort Hood Madness

Posted on November 5, 2009November 7, 2009 by marc

The story of the day is one of madness. Major Nidal Malik Hasan killed at least 12 of his fellow soldiers today at Fort Hood and no one really knows why. Perhaps he was resentful about an upcoming deployment to Iraq. Frankly that explanation doesn’t pass muster. What then could Hasan’s motive been in attacking his fellow soldiers?

Posted on October 19, 2009 by marc

The Obama administration will no longer pursue the course of harassing patients using medical marijuana or their providers in states where the drug is legal for that purpose. Posted on August 5, 2009 by marc

A jury in Alexandria today ruled as everyone knew they would and found former Democratic Congressman William Jefferson of “cold cash in the ice box” infamy guilty on 11 counts of corruption. Nearly 2 years ago I wrong that Jefferson “should be dealt with – and will be, in time, I am confident – with…

The Cad Who Got What He Deserved

Posted on August 4, 2009 by marc

I don’t often disagree with Sister Toldjah – she’s one of my favorite conservative bloggers – but the case of the cheated-upon wife and the mistresses ganging up on the jerk who was having his way with all of them is one time when I don’t think she’s right. Seems to me the cad got…

Mormons Murdered in Mexico Were Real Men

Posted on July 11, 2009 by marc

image Two leaders of Colonia LeBaron, a Mormon community with roots in the United State, were murdered because they dared to defy the drug/kidnapping gangs that have killed more than 3000 people in Chihuahua, Mexico in the last 18 months.

Benjamin LeBaron, 31 and Luis Widmar were forced out of their homes earlier this week and shot multiple times by gangsters who want to ensure that people in Chihuahua stay afraid of them. Both men died.

The tactic may well work. It’s been said that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. Sadly, doing nothing is the easiest thing to do in a conflict, a fact that goes a long way toward explaining the state of Mexico and the world at large.

The Justice of DNA Evidence

Posted on June 20, 2009 by marc

Matt Yglesias is so slick and charming he darn near took me in when he wrote about the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that denied an Alaska man the opportunity to obtain – at his own expense – a DNA test that might exonerate him of a crime. After all, why shouldn’t William Osburne be allowed to test DNA that wasn’t available at the time/place of his trial and conviction?
